Abby and Nick

September 16, 2020

Weddings have been much different this year. They either have a smaller amount of people due to regulations, downsized to just a quick ceremony with a rescheduled reception or postponed entirely to next year. But when we spoke with Abby and Nick they were planning to move forward as normal. Well of course not exactly everything was normal, some masks were worn, sanitizer for guest and a bit of social distancing. However those small changes were not going to stop these two from having a great day. We were happy to be there to capture every moment of it.
Abby knew about our studio because we photographed her brother’s wedding. During the quarantine earlier this year she called the office to talk about wedding package options. Since we were not allowed to have clients in the office we discussed everything over the phone. She was happy to schedule with us without an in person consultation because she was aware of our quality product and service. We are always excited to work with families again for another wedding. We have often done siblings, cousins and now even children of the weddings we did 40 years ago!
The day started off with the threat of some rain showers, but the weather was wonderful. As we took some images prior to the ceremony a few sprinkles were felt falling from the sky. Luckily that was it for most of the day! After the ceremony we traveled to a park location that we have actually not been before and it was amazing. A wonderful overlook of the trees with a lake at the bottom of the hill, it was refreshing to see something new to create unique images for this couple. As we finished up the park photos everyone was getting a bit warm so we enjoyed the moments to cool off on the way to the reception. Upon our arrival we had planned on doing a few more photos on the golf course, well it started to rain again, but only for a few minutes which gave us the perfect window of opportunity to grab a few more stunning photos. We really enjoyed watching everyone have such a great time at the reception. So much laughter and smiles were capture by us as well as Nick on his GoPro. Not having seen people together in awhile, a group having fun made everything seem more regular to us. Thanks Abby and Nick for having us there to capture some normal this crazy year.

Summer Girl

August 18, 2020

Birthday club members are fun for us because we get to see the children grow. At times parents are looking for something a bit different to do during the sessions. We have done themed milestone sessions, sometimes we are inside and sometimes we are outside to make each visit unique. When you are doing 6 sessions during the first 2 years trying something new helps the parents, children and us enjoy each time we meet.
When we scheduled this cutie’s 8 month session and mom wanted to bring along grandma and great grandma. Wow, a four generation photo! This was such a great idea and we were excited to capture it. It is not often that a family has four generations making these sessions even more important and memorable. An outdoor session in July is always questionable because of the heat, however this particular morning there was a nice breeze in the shade giving us a bit of relief. We wanted to start with all the ladies together and quickly got some great images of each generation with the baby as well as a group of all of them together. I know this family is really going to cherish these photos for many years!
Of course we needed to take a few photos of the big girl all by herself. She did a perfect job of showing off her standing skills as well as her amazing smile. She is definitely a mommy’s girl because the biggest grins came when she was looking at mom or laughing at mom. With two brothers at home this girl was ready to show off her fancy side with some big bows and ruffle dresses, she had no problem with a few clothing changes. We are looking forward to her fun 1 year session when we’re sure she will be walking and keeping us on our toes following her around! See you soon.

One year birthday club

August 12, 2020

Have you ever wanted your photographer to come to your house? We can do that for you! Getting ready is so stressful that when we come to your house it takes a bit of the pressure off of naps, traveling, snacks, etc. We are able to work outside your home using the landscaping or walls. It’s also possible for us to be indoors if you prefer, photo in the living room or kids bedroom with their favorite toys.
We arrived at a birthday club member’s home to take one year photos of Christian. It was a very warm day so we knew that we would have to work fast. From the moment everyone came outside they started getting very warm, luckily the spots picked were in the shade. Mom had already picked out a few favorite places in the yard to do the photos. They were beautiful areas and worked great. A simple white brick wall really makes the subject pop in the photos. And of course greenery and trees always looks wonderful in the photos. The evening rain made the grass all wet but a large fan not only helped dry the grass but added a much needed breeze to cool everyone off.
The session was mainly for 1 year photo but big brother was ready to go and smiled so we had to do a photo of him looking so cute. Parents usually have an idea of what they want but sometimes it just doesn’t go according to plan. Kids skip naps, need extra snacks, want to play or are really just not in the mood. Being at home does give the opportunity to relax in a familiar area until the kids are ready for photos. Honestly we are able to get a few photos out of any children. It just takes a bit more effort, no problem! Christian settled down and we got some sweet faces of him against the white brick. He really wanted to be held for the family photos but that was alright. I think that after all the chaos this birthday club family will be very happy.

Oh James!

July 21, 2020

Oh James, you have grown so much. You surely know exactly what you want and keep everyone around you on the chase…literally! From the moment this wonderful 2 year old stepped out of the car he wanted to run, walking wouldn’t cut it, running only for this guy. Mom thought ahead and brought some favorite items that we could use in photos if needed. Sometimes a running little boy is a challenge but James was also a very curious guy so when we talked about touching the bumpy tree, or sitting quietly to look for a robin’s nest James easily complied. Of course these still moments were quick but that is really all we need to get a great smile, not to mention the help from mom and grandma with some songs and peek-a-boo fun.
I enjoyed talking with James about his favorite animals while he also showed off his best cheesy smile. That grin just lit up my day! Yes we have clients that come in only once or twice but our birthday club members are just a joy because we get to watch them grow each time we see them. The personality on this very mobile 2 year old is amazing. He is not a fan of climbing trees or sitting in the grass but he enjoys being outside looking for animals in nature. Or pretending to be one! A small field of grass was a perfect spot for a photo and since we had totally worn out our smile welcome with James I thought we would have a bit of fun. He likes dinosaurs so asked for his biggest roar and stomping through “the forest”. He loved every minute of it and I know this roar face is something mom and dad see often.
The next time we see you James you are going to be so much more grown up, but don’t grow up too fast because we like to take some time and just be kids with the little ones, get down on their level and have some fun!

Jenna and Joe

May 22, 2020

Jenna and I started an email thread about setting up an engagement session and little did we know how many times we would be emailing back and forth. We traded dates a couple times, then had to move because we were not able to operate and Jenna couldn’t find anyone to do her hair and makeup. Then we were on the fence depending on if Joe could get a haircut. Finally we were able to meet and get the session done! I’m glad everything worked out in the end because they really got a wonderful evening to do the photos. We met at the park and I could tell Jenna was excited to get the photos done. I went over some thoughts on where we would be doing photos, types of photos and asked if they had any questions. The only thing they mentioned is they just wanted some nice photos of the two of them together, no need to get crazy with jumping around or silly stuff. That sounded good to me, really Jenna and Joe made the session super easy because they interacted well with each other. Of course all couples need a bit of direction on how to stand or pose but once it was set they handled the rest. They were so happy with the results, but really that was all them making my job easy! A relaxed couple that enjoys spending time together helps make the photos perfect, it captures all the emotions. I knew I had to get the photos ready quickly so they could select images for the save the date cards. I’m sure everyone that gets a card will love the results too since these two are just a great pair. I look forward to photographing the wedding later this year.

Trish and Dan

May 22, 2020

Trish and Dan visited the office looking for a wedding photographer. We had a great conversation during the consult meeting. They were moving along with wedding plans but still had some things to get done before the June wedding. Trish seemed excited but overwhelmed by the whole planning process. She would not be alone in those feelings, most brides feel that way. Dan said he was doing alright with the planning stage of things but knows on the wedding day it will pass very quickly. He even said that he expects to only get 13 bites of food during dinner. Let’s hope that is not true! They mentioned that they were just beginning the photographer part in planning and hoped to visit a few other photographers. Of course couples want to compare the styles, pricing and personality of a couple options. I let them know I was always available for questions as they reached a decision. My excitement grew when I realized they wanted to work with me for the wedding! I knew it was a good match, now we needed to get the engagement photos scheduled. We had no idea the city would shut down prior to their session nor did we know when it would open back up. However we were able to find a day to work together outside, a beautiful day for us to keep our social distance from one another. We had a great time talking about what they have been up to recently, wedding details and the plan if those details needed to change. I was so happy to see that Trish and Dan had a plan but were not stressing out about if it needed to be put into place. “We are getting married, that is the important part.” Of course they want all the guest to be there but either way they will be getting married. The afternoon was filled with so many great moments of them laughing and interacting with each other. This gets me very excited for the wedding day because those emotions will only get better when they are surrounded by loved ones. Only a month to go!

Session Step by Step

May 12, 2020

Here at Ravetta Photography we try to make everything as easygoing as possible. That doesn’t go to say we can’t still have fun during each of our sessions!

It is important to us to build an ongoing relationship with all of our clients. We try to gradually get to know you a little more each time we interact. From the first initial point of contact, whether it is via email or phone call, to your last appointment to pick up your order, we want you to feel both welcomed and valued each time you talk with us.

The ultimate goal is that you continue to choose our studio to help you capture the important milestones in your life! That’s exactly what we’re here for – you.

When you first contact us, we will ask questions to learn more about you, what you’re looking for, and who all you want to be photographed during your session. This is usually when we can determine what type of session and/or package will fit your needs. At this point, we will check our calendar to schedule a date and time that is perfect for both of us! Nothing is due until your time of session – unless you want to purchase a gift certificate for someone.

On the day of your session arrive just a few minutes beforehand, like you would for any other appointment. If we agreed to meet on location, you will find us waiting there for you! After we introduce ourselves and catch up a bit, we will take payment, have you sign your contract, and move along with your session! Every second counts. We want to capture as many memories as possible during our time with you – don’t forget to have some fun!

If you choose to have a studio session, we are located off of Hampton, not far from Arsenal (3131 Hampton Ave). There is street parking available along Hartford Street.

Once you walk in, you’ll find our waiting room. Go ahead and make yourself comfortable, but keep in mind we do have a small dressing room within the actual studio for you to keep important belongings, and whatever props and/or change of clothes you may have brought with you. Don’t worry, it won’t be but seconds before one of our photographers greet you!

Next we will prepare the studio with any necessary changes based on outfit choices or what we decide to start with. In the meantime we will take you into the office to verify and update any contact information, take payment, and sign your contract.

After your session, it usually takes about 2 weeks for us to get your proofs ready for you to see. Once that process is completed, we will contact you to set up a viewing appointment at the studio. At this appointment, we will go over print sizes, prices, and options for you to place an order.

In another couple weeks, we will contact you again to let you know your order is ready to be picked up! We encourage you to place an order at your initial viewing appointment, with an added bonus of 30% off your print order. If you choose to wait to make a decision, your order must be placed within two weeks (with no discount).

As you can see, the entire process is pretty straightforward and there is plenty of time to get to know you and your family!

We understand everyone has a lot of other responsibilities in life and we are flexible when scheduling each appointment. Our office/studio is closed on Sundays and Mondays, and most Saturdays we may be out photographing weddings or other events. Be sure to schedule in advance to find the best availability for you. Tuesdays and Thursday are popular days due to our evening business hours where we are open until 7PM. Be sure to check out the rest of our website for more information about our services and studio.

We look forward to hearing from you soon! Don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions you may have.

Lauren and Michael

March 18, 2020

Sometimes when I meet a couple I just know we will be a good fit as their wedding photographer. Lauren and Michael came into the studio to review our package options. We discussed the package that would work best for them and went over a bit of a timeline for the wedding day. This helped them to get an idea of how everything would work during their February wedding. Lauren and Michael decided that they should go home and discuss these options then call back if they wanted to use our photography services. They left the office….30 seconds later they were back! They said there was no reason to talk anymore about it, they wanted us at the wedding. I’m glad they felt the same way I did from our meeting.
We again had wonderful February weather, yes of course it was cold but the sun was out and it could have been much worse. The day started off at the church with the wedding party getting ready, doing a few photos outside and then relaxing before the ceremony. Lauren and Michael wanted to be sure to have a special moment to exchange letters however they didn’t want to see each other so holding hands around a door create the perfect photo moment!
The church offered a great way to take a photo from the balcony of all the guests that attended the wedding. Lauren and Michael are going to enjoy looking at this photo to see the amazing love and support they have from family and friends. We had plenty of time to take photos around the church before we headed to the park. Yes, we went to the park in February. The wedding party was great about getting into the photos quickly so we could get back in the cars to warm up. The area we went had some evergreen trees and a pond so despite the dead trees all around Lauren and Michael’s photos actually look more like spring photos! Since it was chilly they decided to let the wedding party head to the reception while we went to one more location with just the two of them. A downtown street with a great brick wall and alleyway was a unique spot to do a few photos. The funny part was that as soon as we started taking photos a local restaurant turned on the outdoor speakers with some music for us to listen to. We decided that music was meant for them so they did some dancing! It was just a great moment to watch between the newlywed couple.
They continued that dancing well into the evening at the reception. I don’t think either Lauren or Michael stopped smiling the entire day. Such a wonderful couple to work with, thanks for coming back in the door that evening.

Darci and Ian

March 10, 2020

Darci and Ian planned a February wedding with no idea what the weather would have in store. We discussed options for photo locations. Luckily they planned to get ready at a nearby hotel, this always gives a few options to do photos if we are unable to go outside. The wedding was at Sunset Hills Banquet center, with the golf course being right outside the door we had more options to do photos outside. We could walk out do a few photos and then go back inside to get warm. We had multiple options in place with the couple. The great part was we had a wonderful day so we through all those back up plans out the window!
We arrived at the hotel to capture the wedding party getting ready. The girls were moving along and staying on time – not always a common thing when we show up wedding morning. The boys were also prepared for some photos in the hotel room…perhaps too prepared! They were ready to have fun from the moment we walked in the door and this continued the entire day. Their energy really helped everyone forget it was a bit chilly outside. However when you think about the weather we could have had, we would say it was a beautiful day.
The first look happened in the hotel so Darci and Ian could spend a few moments together before we headed to the ceremony location. With ample photo spots right outside we did all the photos before the ceremony. The sweet and candid moments were plentiful with this couple. We captured many photos of them interacting with each other. And it was such a wide range of photos too, from kisses on the cheek to Ian picking Darci up and carrying her across the field. It will be very hard for them to narrow down the favorite photos. It didn’t help that the wedding party was having such a great time too.
The family even arrived early for photos. This gave Darci and Ian time to really enjoy time with them instead of being rushed from one location to the next. A short ceremony lead right into the reception, exactly what they had planned – get to the party quickly. But not before we took a moment for some sunset photos.
The day just went so smoothly from start to finish! We were happy that we captured all the moments of the day. Thanks for letting us be a part of your memories.
